Dissent

Chat that nobody owns.

Servers, voice, streaming and an in-game overlay, on a network that no company owns and nobody can switch off.

Familiar on day one

The chat you already know.

Servers, channels, roles, DMs and voice. If you've used Discord, you already know your way around.

For gaming groups

Built for playing together.

In-game overlay

See who's talking and keep chatting on top of your game, without alt-tabbing. Windows app.

Clips & galleries

Capture the moment, trim it, and share it to a server gallery your friends can rate.

Tournaments

Run brackets and leagues inside your server, with results, ratings and disputes.

Game servers

Connect your game server panel and manage it from Dissent: console, files, backups.

Discord bridge

Bring a Discord server along while your community moves over.

Privacy

Private by design.

One-to-one messages and encrypted channels are locked on your device before they leave it. The server in the middle only ever holds scrambled text.

The network

A network, not a company.

  1. Every server lives on a node.

A node is a computer running Dissent. Anyone can run one: a community, a friend, you.

  2. Nodes talk to each other.

Join a server on another node with an ordinary invite link. Your account stays where it is.

  3. No node is in charge.

If one goes offline, the rest of the network keeps working. There's no central switch to flip.

How the network works โ†’

For self-hosters

Run your own node.

Your community's messages, files and settings on hardware you control. A setup script does the heavy lifting, and your node can join the network as soon as it's online.
